“America’s Most Haunted Hotel”, the 1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa in Eureka Springs, Arkansas has announced its Second Annual Parallel Universes Conference to be held at the Crescent later this month, August 23, 24 and 25. This year’s conference is entitled “Things Unknown” and will cover a wide array of topics including dowsing, spontaneous human combustion (SHC), and testing your own PSI potential. Co-hosting this year’s three-day / two-night weekend event will be Larry Flaxman, author, screenwriter, speaker, and researcher, as well as being the founder and president of Arkansas Paranormal and Anomalous Studies Team (PAST).

“We had such an awesome reaction to last year’s conference we wanted to make even bigger and better this year,” said Keith Scales, conference organizer. “Not only will we have first-class speakers, this year for our attendees we are adding hands-on activities in the areas of dowsing, auto-writing and finding your own PSI, that is to say your personal ability for remote viewing and extrasensory perception or ESP. The agenda is non-stop from Friday evening through mid-day Sunday.”

The speaker getting the most online chatter this year is Larry Arnold, director of ParaScience International. Arnold has authored three pioneering books with the most famous and most popular one being Ablaze: The Mysterious Fires of Spontaneous Human Combustion. “His book on SHC and the theories of it came home earlier this year when Arnold was called upon to investigate the bizarre case of an individual suddenly bursting into flames in Muldrow, Oklahoma, a little town just minutes west of Forth Smith, Arkansas,” Scales pointed out.
One of the more provocative topics of the weekend will be the in-house investigation surrounding the Dogon~Sirius connection entitled “The Mystery of Sirius and the Dogon”. The Dogon is a tribe in Mali, West Africa, who recounts ancient legends of travelers who came from “another world” centuries ago and gave tribal members knowledge of the stars. They claim to know about stars in the Sirius system that are invisible to the naked eye; knowledge, they say, that was given to them by visitors from that system.
Another speaker, renowned in her area of expertise, is Gladys McCoy who is the co-founder of the Ozark Research Institute. McCoy, both a certified hypnotherapist and past life therapist, has traveled throughout the country conducting dowsing seminars. She will lead attendees in a hands-on “hunt” on a section of the hotel’s 15 acres atop Crescent Mountain and discussing how dowsing has been credited with redirecting underground water.
“But perhaps the most curious and unusual presentation will be by Paul Prater,” noted Scales. “He will be presenting a connected series of demonstrations on mindreading, psychological persuasion and synchronicity in what he calls ‘The Odditorium’. Added to that will be his unbelievable iconic sideshow feats such as lying on a bed of nails, lifting an anvil in a highly unusual manner, and -kids don’t try this at home- driving a nail into his head.”

Rounding out the weekend will be attendee in-house investigations on crop circles and other topics of the unknown. Each investigation will be coupled with “full-blown” multimedia presentations. All of the weekend’s investigations and presentations will conclude with a roundtable discussion on Sunday.
Attendees will also be treated to the ever-popular Crescent Hotel Ghost Tour, and the two live paranormal-themed Crescent Theatre productions of “Not Really A Door” and “Flickering Tales”. Performing “Bizarrkansas: The Stranger Side of The Natural State” will be guest artists Ed and Karen Underwood, authors of Forgotten Tales of Arkansas.
“If folks want a weekend full of paranormal interaction, our Parallel Universes: Things Unknown conference is for them,” concluded Scales. “To make it easy for folks to attend, the Crescent has set up specially priced packages making affordability a ‘thing known’. And I would be remiss if I did not make one thing perfectly clear, the purpose of this event is not to reach consensus, but to explore a diversity of opinions, knowledge and experience regarding some of the most intriguing mysteries of our time.”
